And yet, it is a game that some teams desperately want to avoid playing in. For those teams hunting automatic promotion, the play-offs represent a lottery they would prefer not to be involved in. For most of this season two teams have stood out as the most likely to fill the two automatic promotion places on offer. Routine Maintenance

During the night of 31st May 2014, going into the morning of 1st June, we will be carrying out routine maintenance on the Football Blog Directory. During this time some of the links may not work in the usual way as they are updated. We will also be using this opportunity to update some of the league tables to allow for promotion and relegation at the end of the 2013/2014 season.

A Tough Week.

This week brought two vastly contrasting games to the Crown Ground. Last Saturday’s match against Gillingham was full of excitement and tension from the first to the final whistle. Stanley matched the league-leaders in most if not all areas of the park but were given a stern test against a good, well-equipped side. In James Beattie’s first home start the Reds put on a convincing attacking performance. Gillingham also impressed going forward and a good batch of chances were made in the first half. The away side took the lead at a pivotal time – just a few minutes before the break – and Stanley had to respond.
