Timmy’s Tips for Round 11 of the A-League
Posted on 17 December, 2015
Round 11 is fast approaching so it’s time to deliver some good old fashioned tips for this weekend’s matches.
In Round Ten Timmy’s Tips managed a solid 2/5, so know that you are in safe hands.
Newcastle vs Adelaide Utd (Hunter Stadium)
Much like the new Star Wars movie, Adelaide United are an awoken force, growing in power with every match. Adelaide displayed exceptional football in their latest victory and should have won by more had they converted. Newcastle were deplorable in their loss to City, creating the first real bit of pressure on coach Scott Miller. Despite the recent fortunes of both this game should end in a fairly attacking draw.
Prediction: 1-1Wellington vs Sydney (Westpac Stadium)
Both teams are coming off disappointing losses and will be eager to rejoin the winners circle. Wellington were impressive last week and would consider themselves a bit unlucky not to have taken the three points. Sydney started well against Adelaide but found themselves defending for much of the game after the red card. Wellington has stronger attacking flare at present and this will be crucial for the overall result.
Prediction: 3-1Melbourne City vs Melbourne Victory (AAMI Park)
Has there ever been a team in Hyundai A-League history more brutal in front of goal than City? City have scored 14 goals in three matches while only conceding two down the other end. They have been extraordinary to watch. Victory on the other hand have been a bit down in recent times and will want to rebuild some momentum in their season. It sets the scene for a thrilling evening and an action packed derby. City should however continue on their merry way.
Prediction: 4-2Perth vs Western Sydney Wanderers (NIB Stadium)
Western Sydney’s remarkable winning streak would have you believe Perth are no chance for victory. But on their home turf in front of a rejuvenated set of fans the Glory are quite a good chance in this encounter. Tony Popovic’s men are experiencing a magic moment but the massive win over Victory may be followed with a letdown performance.
Prediction: 2-1Central Coast Mariners vs Brisbane Roar (CC Stadium)
Confidence and morale has hit rock bottom in Gosford after last week’s crushing loss to Perth. Unfortunately for the Mariners it doesn’t get any easier with a visit from high flying Brisbane. The Mariners don’t have much of a chance in this game however football always seems to surprise.
Prediction: 0-3
