Man United vs. West Brom: Facts, Team News, TV Info
Posted on November 7, 2015
Manchester United welcome West Brom to Old Trafford this Saturday as the Red Devils look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.
Following three consecutive goalless draws, Louis van Gaal’s side grabbed a hard-earned victory in mid-week against CSKA Moscow via a 79th-minute strike from captain Wayne Rooney. The Red Devils will be aiming to build on their UCL win on Tuesday night as they take on West Bromwich Albion this weekend.
Despite their inability to frequently score goals, the defence has been top notch for the Old Trafford outfit. United have kept seven clean sheets so far this season and have conceded just one goal at home. They have kept clean sheets in four of their five league games at Old Trafford.
On the other hand, West Brom sits at 12th place on the table, and Tony Pulis’ men go into the United game riding the back of a disheartening 3-2 home defeat to in-form Leicester City.
Prior to their loss against Leicester City, they had moved up from the relegation zone with two consecutive victories over a rejuvenated Sunderland side and Norwich City.
United know it won’t be an easy task as they try to break down a strong West Brom side.
West Brom will most probably be looking to keep United at bay while waiting for a counter-attacking opportunity.
Despite the uninspiring football played over recent weeks, United are separated by mere four from the joint table leaders Manchester City and Arsenal.
West Brom meanwhile are 12th in the table and are on the back of a crushing 3-2 home defeat to high-flying Leicester City, who themselves are a place and a point ahead of the Baggies’ opponents this weekend.
Team News:
Manchester United
Phil Jones and Morgan Schneiderlin are expected to stage comebacks in the game against West Brom.
United Skipper Wayne Rooney is expected to start once again after giving a befitting response to the critics who were calling for his head following series of poor performances this season.
Antonio Valencia and James Wilson are both doubts for the tie while Paddy Mcnair and Luke Shaw continue to be absentees due to long term injuries.
West Brom
Jonny Evans and Darren Fletcher are both expected to feature for West Brom, but shot-stopper Ben Foster is still recovering from a long-term knee injury. Chris Brunt is a doubt having picked up an injury late on last week.
West Brom will be looking to the attacking quality of Salomon Rondon and Sadio Berahino to get something out of the game.
